Press Release
Congressman Cheney statement on Trump Executive Order Reviewing Antiquities Act Designations

Washington D.C.- Congressman Liz Cheney (WY-Al) released the following statement today regarding President Trump's Executive Order ordering a review of national monuments designated under the Antiquities Act of 1906.

"I applaud President Trump's order to review national monuments designated under the Antiquities Act. Wyoming is exempted from the 1906 law, however the Obama Administration has recklessly used the Antiquities Act as a vehicle to seize land in other western states without input from state and local leaders. The president's action yesterday represents a continuation of the kind of leadership pursued by Congress and the Administration over the past three months rolling back burdensome federal regulation and land grabs. I look forward to continuing my work with President Trump, Secretary Zinke and my colleagues in Congress to ensure that we are returning power back to the states and to the people of Wyoming.”
