This week, the House passed H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, a bill I am proud to cosponsor. This legislation will ensure that the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding folks in Wyoming will not be infringed upon when they cross state lines.

This week the House and Senate both passed the bipartisan FY18 National Defense Authorization Act. I was honored to serve as a conferee. I was able to speak on the House Floor and at the Rules Committee, in support of the final NDAA bill and the damage the Budget Control Act has done to our armed forces.

The SECURE American Energy Act is the result of multiple hearings within the House Natural Resources Committee. This bill encourages allows states to establish their own regulatory and permitting processes for oil and gas operations on federal lands. The federal 'one-size-fits-all' regulatory and permitting process is insufficient in meeting the needs of Wyoming and has resulted in egregious APD delays and redundant regulations.

On Thursday, H.R. 1, the Republican tax reform plan, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, was released. I'm encouraged by the proposed legislation and Congress' historic opportunity to provide much needed and overdue security for American families. For far too long our tax system has been overly complicated and placed a burden on the middle class, small businesses, and hindered economic growth. The bill will be marked up next week. I look forward to continuing to hear from folks at home as we finalize the House tax plan. Please don’t hesitate to contact our office with concerns or reactions to this plan. Read more here:

On Monday, The Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt announced his plan to repeal the Obama administration’s “Clean Power Plan.” The withdrawal of this plan is an important and necessary step in reversing Obama-era policies that were aimed at killing our coal industry. For too long, the clean power plan killed jobs and needlessly wasted hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars in a misguided attempt to prop up renewable energy by strangling our fossil fuel industry. As we ended the week in DC, the House passed the Republican budget putting Congress one step closer to rewriting the tax code and fulfilling our most important obligation, to provide for the defense of our nation. The budget that passed provides smart reforms and real savings to domestic programs while also providing our men and women in uniform the resources they need to defend the nation and being to restore our military strength.

In January, I introduced legislation to overturn BLM Planning 2.0. Planning 2.0 was a misguided and damaging attempt by the Obama administration to undermine the rights of state and local governments to manage resources and land use inside their own communities.
