Washington – Wyoming Congresswoman and House GOP Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Texas Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), along with 49 of their Republican colleagues, sent a bicameral letter to President Trump today expressing support for his maximum pressure campaign against Iran and the Administration’s decision to snapback all pre-Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) sanctions against Tehran.

The letter underscores that snapback sanctions are necessary to defend the U.S. and its allies from the existential threat of a nuclear Iran, especially with the first of several key restrictions, the U.N. arms embargo, expiring in October. They write that invoking snapback sanctions on the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism sends a clear message to Tehran that it must cease its destabilizing and malign activities and agree to complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization.
