Washington – Wyoming Congresswoman and House GOP Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) joined 85 House members in sending a letter to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Jovita Carranza seeking assurance that rural hospitals and Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) are eligible for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and other financial assistance programs.
The letter highlights concerns that SBA is interpreting CARES Act language in a way which would preclude some rural hospitals and RHCs from being eligible for certain assistance. Rural hospitals are facing enormous financial stress due to the spread of coronavirus. It is critical that the SBA and the Treasury Department ensures that funding included in the CARES Act, especially PPP, can be used to support rural hospitals.
