Washington – Wyoming Congresswoman and House GOP Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) released the following statement after President Trump declared a national emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the House passed emergency legislation to provide key resources to American families and businesses:

“The President’s announcements were a key step in ensuring America marshals all the tools necessary to confront the challenge of Coronavirus and protect all Americans. I want to commend the President, the Vice President, the members of the Coronavirus Task Force and the private sector American companies who stood with the President and pledged their support and expertise. 

“Tonight, I voted for H.R. 6201, legislation endorsed by the President after we were able to obtain changes that will provide protections for American families and businesses. The resources in this bill will help America address the Coronavirus crisis, through testing and emergency economic support. The nation will face challenging times in the coming weeks, but we have the best, most innovative medical system in the world. We must put partisanship aside and come together as Americans to overcome this challenge.”
