Friends,
After a productive August spent working across Wyoming, listening to constituent concerns and meeting with local leaders, I returned to Washington, D.C. this week to continue working on behalf of our state.
On Wednesday, we held a moment of silence on the Capitol steps to honor & remember the victims of the deadly terror attacks of 9/11. Though that fateful September morning changed this nation forever, we refused to allow the terrorists to win in their efforts to attack our freedom and destroy our country. We must never forget that day, the first responders and members of our armed forces who have sacrificed so much to keep us safe in the years since.

This week, House Democrats chose to continue to push a terribly radical, dangerous agenda that is showing no signs of slowdown. Their efforts to kill fossil fuels, to fundamentally violate the Second Amendment of American citizens, and to impeach the President remain in full force. During this week’s House Republican leadership press conference, I underscored the House Democrats’ shirking of their constitutional responsibilities by continuing to pursue baseless impeachment of the President. You can watch my full remarks below:
I also supported my fellow Republicans, who held a hearing highlighting the ongoing refusal by House Democrats to protect the lives of innocent babies born alive after a failed abortion. It is our duty in Congress to fight every day for the most vulnerable among us. Instead, the Democrats have dodged this obligation by blocking over 80 Republican requests to provide lifesaving medical care for babies born alive. That we have to have this fight in this day and age is absolutely stunning.
House Republicans have pleaded for months with Speaker Pelosi and her caucus to simply bring legislation to the floor that would protect babies. Regrettably, House Democrats refuse to even hold debate on the measure, choosing instead to endorse infanticide and place their radical liberal agenda above doing what is morally right. This commonsense legislation should not succumb to partisan politics, yet here we are. I will continue to work with House Republicans and President Trump to end the Democrats’ horrific, extremist agenda and will always fight to protect innocent human life.
Please see below for a roundup of other things I’ve done over the past two weeks to continue fighting for our state in Congress.

Congresswoman Liz Cheney
Natural Resources Committee
On Wednesday, I joined House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), and Natural Resources Committee Ranking Republican Rob Bishop (R-UT) to introduce The American Energy First Act, an all-of-the-above American energy reform bill. This legislation will expand domestic energy production on federal lands, streamline the federal permitting process, create well-paying jobs for American citizens, and lead to lower energy prices for consumers, all while generating billions of dollars for federal, state and local governments.
Costly government barriers and excessive permitting delays have impeded the efficient production of energy for too long. While Democrats are being driven by their radical base to outlaw forms of affordable energy that families rely on, I was pleased to work with Reps. Scalise and Bishop on this bill which will end unnecessary overreach from Washington bureaucrats, and enable states to manage energy production on lands within their borders.
On Thursday, I delivered a floor speech opposing legislation introduced by Democratic Rep. Jared Huffman that continues the left’s war on our economy, on America’s families, and on fossil fuels. This bill echoes the majority’s goal of making the Green New Deal a reality, fundamentally changing our way of life by making us increasingly dependent on foreign sources of energy. Watch my full remarks below:
I was also pleased on Thursday to welcome the EPA’s final plans to repeal the Obama-era Waters of the United States rule. President Trump’s ongoing efforts to repeal the WOTUS rule is another crucial promise made and kept to Wyoming and rural communities throughout the nation. The previous administration’s WOTUS rule was not only misguided, it was an unconstitutional power grab that jeopardized Wyoming’s ranchers, farmers, and private landowners. Thursday’s announcement was another significant step taken by this administration to reduce unnecessary regulations and restore power to the states, where it belongs.
Going forward, I’ll continue to fight for the best interest of energy producers and consumers so costs are kept low and access to resources remains abundant. I’ll also fight against the absurd Green New Deal, and the efforts by Democrats to upend our economic system and abolish the energy industry our families and nation rely on.
Armed Services Committee
I was pleased this week to see that President Trump decided to call off U.S. negotiations with the Taliban. The President has done exactly the right thing. He has consistently shown that he is willing to walk away from bad deals, including the nuclear deal with Iran and the INF treaty. This is a President who has demonstrated his willingness, ability, and determination not to let the United States be taken advantage of. With the announcement that the talks are dead, the President has demonstrated that he fully understands the Taliban cannot be a partner for peace and the United States should not be in a position where we are putting our security in their hands.
