Friends,
Last Wednesday, the House voted overwhelmingly to pass a bill I proudly cosponsored, H.R. 3375, theStopping Bad Robocalls Act. Last year, there were 48 billion robocalls made in the United States, with Wyoming constituents alone receiving 64 million. Robocalls are a nuisance to millions of Americans, and many of them are illegal scams that look to defraud and harm consumers.
Just last December, the Wyoming Highway Patrol had to alert the public about a robocall scam that the caller-ID said came from a Wyoming 307-number. The recording told the listener that a relative had been in a motor vehicle crash and arrested for driving under the influence. The listener was then instructed to send money for bail, attorney fees, and health care costs. This is exactly the kind of scam that this legislation seeks to prevent.
H.R. 3375 empowers consumers to combat unwanted robocalls and give the Federal Communications Commission the critical tools they need to catch those who break the law. By extending the statute of limitations requiring telephone carriers to implement new caller-ID systems, the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act is a crucial first step to stopping this harmful practice. Hopefully this measure will receive quick action in the Senate.
Also last week, Democrats subjected themselves (and the American people) to yet another embarrassing political spectacle by hauling Robert Mueller before Congress. Not only did Mueller fail to corroborate their collusion and obstruction narratives, but he also blatantly contradicted many of the false claims made by Democrat members of the committee over the past two-plus years.
It’s time to move on. The Democrats’ obsession with baseless, partisan investigations to take down President Trump needs to come to an end so the House can get back to work for the American people.
House Democrats also continued to refuse to seriously address the border crisis by putting forward yet another partisan messaging bill. I voted against the measure, H.R. 3239, because it would have done nothing to stop the influx of illegal immigrants or provide adequate tools for the Border Patrol agents working to keep our country safe and provide care for unaccompanied minors.
I also attempted to bring the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Act to the floor for an up-or-down vote. Unfortunately, House Democrats blocked the request for the 75th time this Congress. The refusal by House Democrats to allow a vote on common sense legislation that protects the life of innocent babies and their mothers is abhorrent. It is our moral obligation to fight every day for the most vulnerable among us. It is indefensible that Democrats refuse to bring up this legislation that would protect babies born alive. My Republican colleagues and I will continue fighting to protect the sanctity of every human life.

Last Tuesday, the Trump Administration nominated F.E. “Wally” Wolski to serve as State Director for USDA Rural Development in Wyoming. For decades, F.E. Wolski has been a leader in our community. He is a Vietnam Veteran and has nearly 40 years of experience as a Wyoming farmer. As State Director for USDA Rural Development in Wyoming, he will use his years in public service and vast leadership experience to help strengthen the heart of our state’s economy, our rural communities.
I applaud the Trump Administration for appointing Wally and I look forward to working with him to support Wyoming’s continued economic growth and rural development.
Armed Services Committee
Last Wednesday, members of the House Armed Services Committee met with newly confirmed Defense Secretary, Dr. Mark Esper. Secretary Esper is a patriot and friend who has devoted many years of service to this great nation. I have no doubt that as Defense Secretary he will be a steadfast leader for our men and women in uniform. He has proven his determination to safeguard American supremacy and power—both of which are all the more vital today as our country faces significant threats from terror groups, rogue regimes, and great powers. I look forward to working with Secretary Esper to continue the progress made under President Trump to rebuild our military and restore America’s power.

Great time meeting with Wyoming delegates for the American Legion Boys Nation and American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation.

Great to meet with Rick and Bobbi Maxfield from Farm Credit Services of America.

I enjoyed spending time with Anna Muzzarelli. Anna is an intern this summer for Senator Enzi and a current University of Wyoming student. She’s researching a very timely and insightful topic for her senior honor’s thesis and I was glad to be able to help answer some of her questions.

It was wonderful to tour our renovated Wyoming State Capitol with Gov. Mark Gordon, Sen. Mike Enzi, and Sen. John Barrasso.

Great to be with the crew of the USS Wyoming in Cheyenne earlier this month.
