Wyoming Congresswoman and House GOP Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) issued the following statement after voting no on House Democrats’ border supplemental bill:

“Today’s vote from House Democrats is not a serious attempt to end the humanitarian crisis and secure our border. Their proposal only undermines President Trump’s efforts to keep our nation safe and it politicizes this issue instead of actually trying to solve the problem.

“For weeks, House Republicans have been working to address this crisis. We’ve tried 18 times to bring legislation to the floor that would provide the humanitarian funding that the Trump Administration requested, but Democrats have blocked it every time.

“It’s critical that we provide this needed assistance for our border, but it can’t be done in a way that undermines law enforcement or the ability to protect the security of our nation. Unfortunately, Democrats and their radical members are more concerned with playing politics than providing border aid. I will continue support the work being done by President Trump and his Administration to end this crisis in a responsible way and control the situation on our southern border.”
