Cheyenne’s John Clay is a member of the Greatest Generation who courageously served during World War II as a 1st Lieutenant of the 48th Fighter Group in the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in France, Belgium, and Germany and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. During his service, he was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross, European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters and two Presidential Citations.
Wyoming is home to almost 50,000 veterans who have defended our nation. We have a great deal to learn from the men and women who proudly fought for our freedom. Their stories should be preserved and honored for future generations. Thank you, John Clay, for your bravery and dedication to protecting the United States of America.
Please watch Mr. Clay tell his story.
