For Immediate Release:

Washington, D.C.- Congressman Liz Cheney (WY-AL) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Health Care Act (AHCA).

“The House of Representatives has taken an important and necessary first step in rescuing the American health care system from the destruction caused by Obamacare. No state has struggled more under the burdens of this failed healthcare law than Wyoming. Obamacare was built on increased federal spending, higher taxes, and unconstitutional regulations. For seven years it has decreased access, increased costs and reduced the quality of care. Our families, business owners, and seniors have been left to foot the bill for higher premiums as they continue to lose the coverage and choice they were promised.

“The AHCA puts patients and their families in the drivers’ seat. It returns authority for health care decisions to individuals and ensures access to affordable care. The bill protects people with pre-existing conditions and ensures they cannot be denied coverage.  I look forward to continuing this fight alongside Senators Enzi and Barrasso to ensure the repeal and replacement process proceeds in a way that works for Wyoming families and businesses.”
