FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Liz Cheney (WY-AL) announced her three committee assignments for the 115th Congress. Congresswoman Cheney has been selected to serve on the Natural Resources Committee, Armed Services Committee, and Rules Committee.
Congresswoman Cheney said, “ At home and abroad, threats to our jobs, our values and our way of life command our national attention.  In communities across Wyoming, our workers, farmers, ranchers and families have made clear that America must be taken in a new direction. They want a congress and president who are accountable to the people. They expect elected representatives to uphold and defend the constitution and make sure we live within our means. I’m honored to be able to serve the people of Wyoming on these important committees where we can begin to undo the damage of the last eight years, bring economic growth and jobs back to Wyoming, and ensure we do everything necessary to keep America safe.”
House Chairman of Natural Resources Rob Bishop (UT-01) spoke regarding Congresswoman Cheney’s appointment:
“I’m excited to welcome Rep. Cheney to our team. Liz brings western values and tremendous leadership skills to the Committee, and I look forward to working with her during the 115th Congress to expand economic opportunities for our constituents through a range of important issues within our jurisdiction.”
Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Thornberry spoke about the appointment.
“At a time in which America faces unprecedented national security challenges, I am pleased to welcome Congressman Liz Cheney, with her wealth of experience and foreign policy knowledge to our Committee.  She has long been a leader on issues concerning the importance of maintaining an American military that is second to none.  Her commitment to the veterans in her home state of Wyoming, and to the needs of F.E. Warren Air Force Base will continue to be top priorities for her.  I look forward to working with her to ensure we maintain American military superiority and provide our fighting men and women with the resources, technology and support they need to defend our nation.”
Congressman Pete Sessions (TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee welcomed Congresswoman Liz Cheney to the Rules Committee:
“As a strong constitutional conservative, Congresswoman Cheney was chosen by the people of Wyoming to represent them because she understands what it takes to create a safer, stronger America, put Americans back to work, and restore the balance of powers. From her days in the State Department as an expert in U.S. Policy in the Middle East, to her critical advocacy work on Constitutional authority, as well as her dedication to helping veterans in her community, she has gained important insight and knowledge about some of the most pressing issues facing our nation. I have no doubt that Congresswoman Cheney will be an exceptional new Member of Congress and bring tremendous value to the important work that we do at the Rules Committee.”
